Trail Riding

July 19th -July 23rd

Camp runs Monday through Friday: 8:30 am-12:30 pm

Open to all campers who know how to sit astride and steer a horse.  The campers will learn and practice riding at a gait that would apply to any trail ride. They will learn how to prepare their horse and themselves for trail rides. The emphasis is on being able to safely control the horse when on the trail as well as learning those protocols that will convey to others that this person is a self-sufficient and seasoned trail rider. We have extensive trails where these skills can be learned and practiced.

Trail riding is an activity that is offered in many places, providing a wonderful way to see a new area from the back of a horse.

The Farm is embarking on its fifth camp season with the objective of making it the best ever, hoping that those who attend will come and learn, whether the learning goal is centered on serious competition, learning more riding and improving skills or just to have fun. But above and beyond this, the safety and well-being  of your child or young adult is paramount and our first consideration in presenting any program.

The experience of kids and young adults being around our four legged friends builds confidence and teaches life lessons above and beyond equestrian skills. When they can learn to be comfortable around these animals they have enhanced their skills of everyday living.

The camps have been structured to provide different paths of learning whether the goal is to just learn how to ride or perhaps to engage in the more serious competitions where advanced skills are required.

We have tried to make the enrollment process as easy as can be. The forms are available here from the website. Just click on "Print Enrollment Forms" button for your camp, print, complete and return them to us with your deposit.

The Enrollment package contains all forms and instructions required for registration. However, if you should require any of the individual forms, they are available at the bottom of this page. To see a camp description, just click on the name of the class below.

If you or your camper have any ideas for camps not offered or how to improve existing camps please contact us at the Farm.

SUMMER CAMPS

Camp runs Monday through Friday: 8:30 am to 12:30 pm

This is a great camp for riders who have advanced to cantering and want a review to polish up  their equitation skills on the flat and want to advance to beginning equitation ( 18" and less ) over the fences.

This is the basic preparation camp for winning at horse shows.

Since the judging criteria covers the rider's performance and control of the horse, use of riding aids, proper attire, correct form, you will learn rider poise, the cleanliness and polish of horse, rider and equipment.

Here, you will learn how a good equitation rider is always in balance with the horse, maintains a correct position in every gait, movement, or over a fence, and possesses a commanding, but relaxed, presence, able to direct the horse with nearly invisible aids.
